Itronix Utility and Energy Markets Get New Head
Itronix Corporation, a leading developer of wireless, rugged mobile computing systems, announced today it has appointed Randy Denny as vice president of utility and energy markets. Denny has more than 18 years of experience in the utility industry, including his previous position at Itronix as regional sales director, where he generated more than $50 million in direct sales and was responsible for growing the Itronix installed base from three utility accounts to more than 40 in less than five years. Itronix has served the utility market since 1997 and currently holds approximately 40 percent market share in large utility deployments for field service over the last five years.
?Randy has been instrumental in establishing Itronix as the defacto standard for rugged computers deployed to support utility field service initiatives,? said Tom Turner, president and CEO of Itronix. ?In addition to a strong background in sales, marketing and client services, Randy has an acute understanding of what is required to make an entire utility field service project a success. Our utility and energy customers have come to rely on Randy?s unwavering commitment to meeting and exceeding their expectations and we look forward to increasing our traction in the utility and energy market with Randy taking the helm as vice president.?
Denny joined Itronix in 1996 as manager of corporate marketing and was responsible for all corporate marketing communications, OEM business development, and sales planning. Prior to Itronix, he held various senior management positions with Itron, including utility project manager, manager of professional services, and worldwide systems product manager. At Itron, he played an instrumental role in defining and coordinating the development of turnkey data systems, which included rugged handheld computers and client/server-based applications for the global market.
Banner Year for Itronix Utility Customer Deployments
Last year was a banner year for Itronix utility customer deployments. Customers such as Florida Power & Light (FPL), Keyspan, Missouri Gas, and NICOR Gas, either deployed Itronix wireless, rugged mobile computing products and/or renewed existing service and warranty contracts. Marquee customers include Pacific Gas & Electric, Peoples Energy, Progress Energy, Southwest Gas, and Transco.
Applications in the utility and energy industries make challenging demands on mobile computing devices, often requiring 24/7 performance in a variety of extreme environments where speed and safety is critical. Itronix?s arsenal of wireless and secure rugged hardware and application software products are well-equipped to meet these challenging application needs.
Itronix currently provides wireless, rugged solutions for a wide-variety of utility/energy applications. An expanding trend is for customers to use wireless, rugged computing platforms beyond the realm of field service. Itronix customers are increasingly using the technology across different work groups, such as construction, pipe and pole inspections, meter shop, locating, substation and plant maintenance and other departments to improve productivity and cut costs.
?I look forward to playing a key role in advancing Itronix?s position in the utility and energy markets,? said Randy Denny, vice president of utility and energy markets. ?As our customers continue to expand their use of wireless, rugged computers, Itronix will continue to address their needs with world-class solutions and implementation services.?
